The "Relief City Perlach" goes back to a structural concept and an urban planning competition. From 1967 to 1982, a greenfield relief city with 21,000 apartments was built according to the guiding principle of "urbanity through density". For some years now, the large housing estate, which was often criticized but popular with its residents, has been undergoing a transformation as a result of new construction and redevelopment projects. Starting in 2019, preparatory studies for urban redevelopment were carried out in a large part of Neuperlach. An intensive information and participation process took place parallel to the planning. Since April 2022, the Neuperlach North and Neuperlach redevelopment areas have been formally defined. This marks the start of the implementation of the redevelopment, with the aim of making Neuperlach a sustainable and climate-neutral part of the city. Neuperlach is not only waiting for the completion of its center, but also offers the opportunity for structural additions and restructuring in various places. In doing so, it is important to preserve Neuperlach's urban development concept and yet set new accents. Neuperlach is an area for action in Munich's urban development planning.
