Ostpark
Today, the Ostpark with its 56 hectares of green space is a recreational area for the entire east of Munich. Its design was strongly influenced by the 1960s. Back then, residents did not demand strictly planned parks with decorative greenery, but rather open spaces that could be used in a variety of ways. They wanted to lie on the grass, play and do sports - and thus drove forward the "seizure of ownership of the lawn". The 1970s, with their discussions about ecological sustainability, also influenced the design of the Ostpark. Today, the beer garden, the playgrounds, the spacious lawns, the toboggan hill and the Theatron offer a variety of uses. A large meadow valley with a lake is surrounded by a row of hills, the flanks of which are covered by woodland. A large part of the park remains undefined and allows for individual appropriation.
