An overflow city on the scale of Neuperlach was ground-breaking in German urban design; the goal was that function and design should stand out from the old city. The aim of the plan was to build a self-sufficient city, in front of the city. As a result, several local shopping centres, such as the Quiddezentrum, were created with shops and convenience stores for daily needs, as well as medical practices, restaurants and neighbourhood facilities. Each centre is able to serve the needs of around 10,000 residents. The Quiddezentrum is closed today, due primarily to its inaccessibility. The shopping centre is being rebuilt and apartments are being built above it. In the meantime, the Munich Society for Urban Renewal (MGS) is opening the "Quidde35 - Raum für Stadtsanierung" (Quidde35 - Space for Urban Redevelopment), a place for citizens to get information and address their questions. The room can also be used for neighbourly engagement. In addition, the health management will move in.
