The high-rise is located at the interface between city, landscape and highway. The slender tower is clearly vertically dominated and the glass atrium, flooded with light, creates a communicative entrance area. In 2010, the high-rise was the first office building in Germany to be awarded LEED Gold certification for its sustainable construction. It saves up to 80 percent primary energy during operation and thus up to 35 percent operating costs compared to similar buildings.
Originally, the building was planned to be 145 meters high. Because of the citizens' petition in 2006, which advocated a height limit of 100 meters, the "SV-Hochhaus" was "shortened". In 2008, the editorial office of the Süddeutsche Zeitung moved from the city center to the tower. Today, in addition to the SZ editorial office, the German School of Journalism and other subsidiaries of Süddeutscher Verlag are also located there.
