Riemer Park
In a area of 210 hectares, 'Riemer Park' is Munich's third largest city park after the 'Englischer Garten' and 'Nymphenburger Schlosspark'. It is semicircular in shape, open to the north and it extends for about four kilometres. 'Green fingers' reach deep into the built-up areas. Together with alpine views, the 'Riemer Park' offers a beautiful visual landscape that makes walking, jogging or tobogganning even more inviting. Two viewing and tobogganing hills were built from the demolition material from the former airport. Another attraction here is the 'Riemer See' (Lake of Riem). The straight lines of the main paths, lined with meadows and oak and pine forests, are reminiscent of the runways that were built not far from here. Because the Bundesgartenschau (Federal Garden Show) was held in the 'Riemer Park' in 2005, it is also known as 'BUGA-Park'.
