Münchner Tor is an impressive 85-metre-high office building, rising above the Parkstadt Schwabing quarter. This imposing landmark marks the main entry point to Munich from the north and, together with the Highlight Towers standing opposite, guards the entrance to the city centre; creating a unique skyline. This high-rise building built in 2003 not only accommodates modern offices, but also serves as a noise barrier for the neighbouring residential area of Berliner Strasse. A promenade, which passes partly under this striking structure, leads to the Munich Ring Road, the Mittlerer Ring. Due to the height of the Münchner Tor building and its small footprint, it was possible to retain about 60 percent of the building plot as a biotope or natural habitat, which includes a small lake and is largely open to the public.
