Harrow factory
At number 19 on Erna-Eckstein-Straße stands the old harrow factory, which once built agricultural equipment. The listed building from around 1900 will be renovated in the coming years and converted into an action sports hall. The gable walls and steel frame will be retained and, together with a new building, will provide around 4,600 square metres of usable space for a wide range of trend sports such as freestyle, skateboarding, street parkour, BMX, dirt biking, chair skating, miniramp and jump line. At the same time, the hall will provide space for school sports.
In the first construction phase, the former Eggenfabrik will be sustainably renovated in line with its listed status. A new action sports hall with sports areas for skateboarding and BMX will be created here. The city council will then have to vote again on the second construction phase in due course. This includes the construction of the new hall with the realisation of the parkour, cycling and skateboarding areas. However, the areas earmarked for the new hall will not remain unused. Until realisation, the open space will be converted for interim use. A slackline area, mobile elements for parkour, a play and sports turf area for various uses and a table tennis area will be set up there. The city council has cleared the way to resume planning for the second construction phase.
