Elisabeth-Castonier-Platz
The square is named in honour of the German writer Elisabeth Castonier (1894-1975), who died in Munich. During its planning, a citizens' workshop was organised under the motto "A living room for the neighbourhood". The workshop sought answers to the question of how homely elements could be translated into the public space. The result is different floor coverings, benches, plants and a fountain, which are skilfully distributed across the square. The fountain with water feature and seating area, which is illuminated at night, is intended to give Elisabeth-Castonier-Platz a special atmosphere. Coniferous and deciduous trees are distributed in loose groups and provide shade - this is the vision. Until the final design can be realised, the gravel surface has been sown with flower-rich meadow seed. Various seating elements and temporary trees provide places to sit and relax on the green space. A wide variety of social facilities have already opened around the square, enriching the neighbourhood. The new city library with its colourful furnishings also invites people to linger.
