In the middle of the Domagkpark residential area is the 'Feierwerk Funkstation', a new square, two-storey building, the wings of which enclose a glass courtyard. This pink building is a centre for open-air youth and children’s work. The Feierwerk Funkstation ('radio station') takes its name from the radio barracks which previously occupied the site. Today it provides a programme of leisure, educational and counselling activities for families in a large multi-purpose room, which is connected to a café with a kitchen. It contains several rooms for childcare, and two music rooms for rehearsals. In summer, barbecues and open-air cinema screenings take place on the large roof terrace. The roof itself is green, and equipped with a photovoltaic system that feeds electricity into the public grid.
