The visualisation of the nesting façade shows what the new habitat for birds could look like.
Excursus: nesting façade project
Various animals, such as bats, can nest together in a façade made of 3D-printed clay tiles on the wall of the Südpolstation. The tiles also form a shell that cools the building in strong sunlight. The nesting façade is the result of an initiative from the now completed EU project “Creating NEBourhoods Together” (NEB). The so called “Animal-Aided Design” is a method for incorporating wild animals into architecture, open space and urban planning.
