"Grünband" - Green belt
The green corridor that runs north-south and connects the two districts of Freiham and Neuaubing is called the "green belt". It is around 700 meters long, between 45 and 63 meters wide and is criss-crossed with cycle paths and footpaths, playgrounds and activity areas. The inclusive green space serves as a shared recreational area for both the people of Neuaubing and their neighbors in the young Freiham district. A 21-metre-high sculpture, the "Freiham Folly", has also stood there since 2018. It was designed by the artist duo Heike Mutter and Ulrich Genth from Duisburg/Hamburg. The sculpture consists of pre-patinated copper sheets in different shades of color and can be seen from almost anywhere on the green belt.
