The arcades are a common stylistic element of the buildings on Mahatma-Gandhi-Platz.
The first shops have already opened in the ‘ZAM’ on Mahatma-Gandhi-Platz.

2023: Start of construction of the ‘ZAM’ district centre on Mahatma-Gandhi-Platz
The arcades are intended to make the centre permeable.
A 60 metre high residential building was built above the arcades.
District Centre "ZAM"
Freiham's urban heart will soon be beating here: the ZAM district centre, the large retail centre of Freiham North, is currently being completed on Mahatma-Gandhi-Platz. The first shops opened in 2024. It is centrally located and easily accessible between the sports park, the education campus and Freiham S-Bahn station.
With around 16,000 square metres of retail space, it is set to become the central meeting point for the entire district. The eye-catcher will be a 60 metre high residential building with oval windows.
The ZAM operates according to the principle of open shopping: the shops are accessible from the public space. The arcades in front of the shops, which border directly on the town square, also provide a connecting transition area. Access from the outside ensures that the adjacent paths and squares are lively - similar to Munich's city centre.
The ZAM will also house 470 flats, offices and restaurants.
