Salvatorgarage
The parking garage at Salvatorplatz in its historic surroundings was designed in 1965 by Professor Franz Hart in the form. The materiality of the building was intended to fit into its surroundings - an exposed brick wall like that, of the adjacent city wall and the Salvator Church. In 2006, the building was extended with a mesh of metal. This network of steel rods wraps itself like a ribbon around the elevation of the parking garage. What is not immediately apparent is that this is where history and digitization come together. Peter Haimerl developed the new steel façade structure according to generative growth algorithms. Three additional parking decks are hidden behind the open metal structure.
