Siemens High-rise
For some it is the landmark of Munich's south, for others rather a building sin of the early 1960s. There's no question about it: The former Siemens headquarters on Baierbrunner Strasse is polarizing - also with regard to its future use under the new name 'South One'. When it was completed, the 75-meter-high disc skyscraper was Munich's tallest office building. After it was sold, conversion into residential space was initially discussed until the City of Munich finally agreed to the renovation and the creation of new office space. Among other things, the planned conversion of the 22-story building will have to make way for the dilapidated glass-and-aluminum facade. However, the character of the former corporate headquarters is to be preserved. Baierbrunner Strasse 54 is a listed building.
