The station square is to be given a more attractive design as an entrance to the old town and create a better connection between the station building and the pedestrian zone in Schützenstrasse.
The designs and visualisations by the architectural firm Auer Weber provide an idea. At the same time, the areas on the station square will have to be reorganised for the individual modes of transport and users: Pedestrian traffic, local public transport and cycle traffic will be even more closely interlinked in future. There will also be high-quality areas for taking a break, finding your bearings or relaxing.
What the station square will look like in the future and how it will be organised in terms of traffic is currently unclear. In addition to the public transport stops, the construction site for the main railway station is currently the main feature. The redesign of the station square in conjunction with the design of the two forecourts is one of the next important planning tasks for the City of Munich in this area around the station.
