Munich Central Station reception building
A modern terminal is the centrepiece of the new Munich Central Station, into which the S-Bahn stop to the second main line will also be integrated. It replaces the former station building and will in future complement the concourse to the east.
This Deutsche Bahn construction project consists of seven above-ground and two underground storeys. In addition to the waiting areas, catering facilities, shops, rest areas and toilets, halls for conferences and events are also planned. There will be bicycle and 100 public car parking spaces in the underground levels. A shopping arcade will run parallel to the transverse platform. The entrance hall itself is to offer a bright, friendly spatial experience with a large glass roof.
An access structure, the "nucleus" to the second main line, will run 40 metres below the entrance hall. In addition to direct access to the S-Bahn, a holding structure is already being built there for the future stop of the U9 underground line. From this building shell, the "Hauptbahnhof" U9 station will then be directly connected to the second main line and the route system in the new station building.
