Even if it is not visible at first glance: these buildings are essentially made of wood.
Solar panels on the roof generate electricity. Rainwater is collected and used for flushing toilets, washing machines and watering the garden.
The distance between the houses was determined according to ecological criteria.
NEST-Passivhaus
In the centre of Prinz-Eugen-Park, developer NEST has built 55 rental apartments based on the Konzeptioneller Mietwohnungsbau (conceptual rental housing construction) funding model. They are characterized by affordable rents and low ancillary costs. The wooden building with one to four-room apartments meets Passivhaus standards, is fed with electricity from its own solar system, and even re-uses the rainwater that it collects. The underground car park is equipped with charging stations for electric vehicles. The buildings face south and the distances between the structures are also determined by ecological criteria.
