Altstadt-Radlring
Munich needs more and also wider and safer cycle paths, as more and more people are switching to bicycles - this sums up the demands of the two citizens' petitions "Altstadt-Radlring" and "Radentscheid". The redistribution of public space in favor of cycling is therefore a done deal. In Von-der-Tann-Straße above the Altstadt-Ring tunnel, new, 2.80 meter wide and green asphalted cycle paths have already been created on one side of the street. On the section between Sendlinger-Tor-Platz and Papa-Schmid-Straße, 2.80-metre-wide cycle paths with a 50-centimetre-wide safety strip have been created on both sides. The sidewalk was also widened. One lane and a reduced number of parking spaces are still available for motor vehicle traffic heading into the city. Further sections on Thomas-Wimmer-Ring and between Lenbachplatz and Briennerstraße have already been completed or are well advanced in construction. The new cycle paths are level and marked in red at danger spots. More cycling safety is also being ensured at junctions.
