The renovated Sendlinger Tor underground station in december 2023
Stadtwerke München (SWM) spent almost seven years renovating the station during ongoing operations.
Construction also took place on the surface. Here a picture from 2017.
Sendlinger Tor Underground Station
Alongside Munich Central Station and Odeonsplatz, the Sendlinger Tor underground station is a transport hub for Munich's public transport system. It was remodelled from 2017 to 2023 during ongoing operations. The three levels of the busy station now have a modern design with higher platforms and additional lifts for greater accessibility. The refurbishment of the station, which has been in operation since 1971 and is one of the oldest underground stations on the Munich network, was necessary as passenger numbers have tripled since then. Now there is more space for passengers, which will equalise the flow of visitors, a renewed fire safety system, two new lifts and more lifts as well as exits to the surface for a better quality of stay. The station also has a modern look with new facades, floors, ceilings and lights.
