Former Agfa Site
The Agfa Camerawerk (Camera Factory) with the well-known high-rise building on Tegernseer Landstrasse shaped the image of modern Giesing for decades. From the beginning of the new millennium, this former industrial area has seen extensive redevelopment. Today, a new 52 metre high office building rises where the former Agfa high-rise was situated since 1959. It is the same height as the former building, that was spectacularly demolished with explosives in 2008. 950 apartments were built in the new Agfa-Park district; a commercial complex with offices and a hotel seals off the residential area from the Mittlerer Ring. 1,200 people work here. A green centre provides a meadow, a grove, an area designated for leisure known as the Aktivitätenband or activity band and a wooded area offer a wide range of natural open spaces and play areas for all age groups.
