Primary School Bauhausplatz
For a large primary school with a triple sports hall, pre-school and kindergarten, the cluster of buildings on the Bauhausplatz looks extraordinarily delicate. The impression of weightlessness is created by the wooden boarding of open escape balconies. The two, and partly three-storey, building with floor-to-ceiling windows, conveys a light aesthetic. The Munich ‘Learning House’ concept is also implemented in the primary school, dividing the school building into small, independent units. The size of each unit can be varied as required, creating flexible spaces for open learning, and different forms of teaching. The school also offers special needs education and extended-hours provision for working families.
