The terrorist attack of September 1972 has gone down in recent history as the 'Munich Massacre'. Since September 2017, a memorial has commemorated the assassination. The architectural firm Brückner & Brückner won the competition. The German name of memorial site 'incision' is intended to symbolize the turning point in Munich's history and commemorate the victims. The concept was drawn up by experts from the Flossenbürg concentration camp memorial, the Jewish Museum in Munich and the Bavarian State Office for Political Education. Relatives of the victims, the responsible authorities and the Israeli Consulate General were also involved in the work.
