Tile Art, Herrnstrasse 19a
A ceramic work by artist Eugène (Max) Cordier (1903 to 1974) is located on a coloured plaster field above the two entrances to the municipal children’s day nursery on Herrnstrasse. Cordier, born in Strasbourg, studied under Julius Dietz in Munich and subsequently worked as a painter, graphic artist and illustrator. His very graphic ceramic images are strongly reminiscent of children's book illustrations of the time, here portraying a girl with a ‘bandaged’ doll sitting on a swimming duck, and a boy dressed in a historic uniform riding a locomotive.
