Sugar Valley
Where the temporary use ‘Sugar Mountain’ was still located until 2024, ‘Sugar Valley’ will now follow. Apartments and workplaces with plenty of open space are being created here. The area is set to become a showcase project for sustainable urban districts in Germany. What makes Sugar Valley special is its energy concept, which is based exclusively on natural resources. This means that neither the construction nor the operation of the district will burden the environment with additional carbon dioxide. The district has already received LEED Platinum certification.
The new district with eleven buildings is planned to be car-free, with almost 900 bicycle parking spaces. Three office towers with a height of 80 metres have been approved, as has the construction of 200 to 300 apartments. More than 30 types of use are to be created – from working and living to shopping and gastronomy to leisure and events. Plans include a new market and event hall, five sports and playgrounds, and a large neighbourhood square with around 5,000 square metres of open space. According to the planners, a fountain with a water feature will be an eye-catching feature. The designs for the first construction phase were created by J. Mayer H. and COBE.
