Young Obersendling Quarter
Since 2015, a pilot project for local trainees and young people with a refugee background has been running on the former Siemens site, the only one of its kind in Germany: flat modules not only offer them attractive living space together - they also have the opportunity there to take advantage of educational and psychosocial support services and to grow into the professional world on their own responsibility. The "Junge Quartier Obersendling" (JQO) has children's and youth facilities such as the "SchlaU School" and a social community centre, where further education, workshops, but also "Gamer Nights" and sports tournaments take place. In the premises of the "SchlaU-Schule", more than 200 young refugees are accompanied to school graduation at the standard of Bavarian secondary schools. There is also a canteen, a cafeteria and hobby and music rooms on the premises where the young people can meet and exchange ideas.
