Ratzingerplatz
Ratzingerplatz, which has lain fallow for several years, is gradually being given a new face. A neighbourhood centre is planned as the centrepiece of the 13.2-hectare site. The large-scale development will begin with a five-room primary school, a six-room grammar school - both almost completed - a tram and bus stop as well as a park-and-ride facility, on which a school sports area is to be set up on the roof at a later date. The long-term goal is also to plan further buildings for flats, shops, offices, services and social facilities. For example, a modern neighbourhood centre is also to be built north of Gmunder Straße with roof gardens. Here, the city of Munich is focusing on sustainable urban development in which ecological as well as energy goals are realised.
