"Sternhochhäuser"
The first two Stern high-rise buildings were completed on the grounds of the Siemens housing estate in 1954. They were the first high-rise buildings to be built in Germany after the Second World War and were built by the Siemens company for its employees. Both high-rises are on the list of monuments of the Bavarian State Office for the Preservation of Monuments. They owe their name to the three building sections that branch off in a star shape from a central section with a lift. New at that time was that all flats had a balcony, an intercom system and a rubbish chute. In 2006, a third star-shaped high-rise was built at Leo-Graetz-Straße 16, which won the "Prize for Cityscape Preservation" of the City of Munich in 2008. There are other buildings of varying heights on the Siemens site - in addition to two-storey terraced houses, there is also a twelve-storey residential building in the shape of a disc. Since 2009, the buildings are no longer owned by Siemens AG.
